There are two types of breast implants: Silicone and Saline. Silicone gel-filled breast implants have a silicone outer shell that is filled with silicone gel. Saline filled breast implants contain a silicone outer shell filled with a sterile saltwater (saline) solution. Some are pre-filled and others are filled during the implant operation.
Both types of implants have had and continue to cause adverse affects to the human immune system. Do not be fooled by the thought that you had saline implants and therefore will not get sick.  Any amount of silicone, no matter how small, can cause your body to have an internal allergic reaction. Silicon is the second most abundant element on earth, next to oxygen. Silicones are actually a family of chemical compounds. They are made of silicon, which is a naturally occurring element found in sand, quartz, and rock. When silicon is mixed with oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon, it becomes silicone. Silicone can be made in a variety of forms. Low molecular weight silicones form oils. Middle molecular weight forms gels, and high molecular weight forms elastomers and rubbers. Silicone is found in many other types of implants, such as facial implants, artificial joints, drainage systems

More About Silicone Breast Implants
When Breast Implants were first introduced, women were lead to believe that their implants would last forever. For someone who had under gone mastectomies due to Breast Cancer, they were getting a new lease in life; they had a chance to feel like a woman again. Others, whose breast unfortunately never fully matured, felt they finally had a chance to love their bodies and figure. The medical community and the public were under the impression that these implants were indestructible and there would never be any complications. Sad to say, we were all being misled by the manufactures of these products.
Problems relating to breast implants began to surface in the late 1980’s. They were finally removed from the market by the FDA in 1992.New studies have proven that Breast implants are not lifetime devices. The longer you have breast implants, the more likely it is that complications will occur and you will need to have them removed. Even though the FDA has made these claims, many physicians still do not believe there is any connection to autoimmune disease and Breast Implants. To this day, most women had no idea that their sicknesses and diseases could have been related to their silicone implants.
 Settlement Facility Dow Corning Trust:
